Re-Scrap 2015 | January finished pages

Isn´t January the longest month ever?! Well, it is coming to an end and that means I have three new layouts to show you! Remember, I opened up an other round of Re-Scrap for this year. Let´s get down with business, shall we.

Older page

This is my new page! As you see I took the over all design as my inspiration. Switched places with the tags, but oh I love tags! This is the photo we posted on social media announcing that we are getting married :)

And here is my new page. Fun fact: the photos on both the older page and this new one were taken at the same place, just a year between :)  That "best year yet" stamp is from Studio Calico and I got it in my first sub kit this month. This page design is one I could use over and over again. It is super simple and yet by using different papers it´s a new one every time!

These are photos from our annual sisters with respectives SPA weekend! It´s one of my favorite traditions obviously! You can easily see how I hav…

Around here

Around here the weather really is all over the place! In the last week we have had temps ranging from -4 to 5.  Most nights are cold so the car is usually covered in frost in the morning, but then it usually melts during the day.

So I was taking out the trash the other day and spotted these snowdrops! In January. In Sweden! Crazy early!

Around here I am sick. Again. Since working with the youngest kids at work I have been sick several times. They say their germs are extra toxic and I suppose they are right! I am over it by now. I have been home laying on the couch for most of the week, coughing and without my voice.

Hot lemon water is my besties and yarn is my Buddy ;)

Around here my girl is going through a tough time, but we are so thrilled she has  taken up an old hobby!

Around here my love is getting some new meds for his MS. We are both anxious and troubled to see what this will bring.

Around here our wedding invitations are waiting to be put in envelopes and send out. I have also m…

Project Life 2015 | Week 4

Welcome to week 4 in my PL album!
This year I am using a 6x8" Sn@p album by Simple Stories. I was gifted the album by my love for Christmas after a hint or two on which one I liked. I love the feel of the smaller sized album! As I have said before, I can´t wait until it is all filled!

The first page mostly represent the first half of the week. As you may guess it was kind of on the crappy side. Sometimes all it needs is a good filler card :)
This week I added a whole page to the spread. I love the photo I took of our lovely tulips and printed it a full 6x8.

Now I needed to add something to the backside and opted to use part of a doodle page from a fun Coloring book I also got for Christmas. I added a little color (actually just grey and black!) and trimmed the page to fit.  For the photos I made them into circles in the PicFrame app and just printed them 3x4". I did add a few more words in this week´s spread! Yay! I went with just liting current stuff from the week. Easy …

OLW 2015 | No2

I thought I´d re-visit my OLW for the year, more/less. You can read more about it here! One month into the new year, I have been thinking a lot about how I need to do more of some things and less of others. It is in the back of my mind all the time. I have been taking daily walks after work and it makes such a difference from going straight home. I live 30 seconds from work, so there is really no time to "de-work" for me. But a half an hour in nature is doing wonders!

Another aspect is breathing. I have been taking my deep breathes on a daily basis whenever I feel like things are going out of control. It calms me down so I can Re-focus.

As I am a crafter, I have used my OLW in different projects. Like the banner above. I will have a little DIY post up on making these. I like to surround myself with words and quotes.

When I have some time I like to write words too! I bought a watercolor brush where I can add water to a little container, making it easier to write/paint more e…

Project Life 2015 | Week 3

Hurray! I am back to making one hour spreads! When I swithed album/pocket sizes for the new year, I had a hard time figuring out the photos vs. words ratio since I had much less space than before. Week 1 I felt almost stumped and was thinking I had made a mistake by leaving a good system behind. But then I decided that I just needed a new routine, so I plugged through and this past Sunday as I made my week 3 spread it felt really good! Yes!

I opted with not doing very much journaling since the photos talk for themselves and to be honest, I didn´t have that much to say. I do struggle with including more words. I know lists work and "in-review" kind of journaling, so I am trying to use more of those!

Card from Rachel at Big City Quiet etsy shop.

How do you work when the journaling doesn´t come easy?

Project Life 2015 | Title page

I thought I'd share my 2015 title page for my 6x8" project life album. This year I opted to use the colors of the month over at PLSWE which are teal, grey and silver. The cards I used I printed from the Project Life app. It is so very easy to use and you can buy lots of kits right in the app for a very good price!
These cards are from the Kiwi kit and Amy Tangerine´s One mini kit. I really am pleased about how it turned out and I love the colors!
Here is a quick look at my first page in January last year. I was inspired by Elise and the way she created her title page!

I really like to include at least a few photos of us on the title pages. it is fun to see how we evolve.
Happy Wednesday!

Around here | Week 3

Around here the weather changes almost from day to day. This past weekend we had a big storm  that destroyed a lot of our woods. The morning after we had a few inches of snow and it kept snowing all day. Then a few days later the temps were up to 5 degrees again. I can´t wait ´til spring!

Around here we are settling in to normal routine with work and school. My daughter started her last semester in Jr high and she needs to make an effort to get some of her grades up to be able to get into the High school that she wants. We are doing homework together and once again I thank God I went to school as long as I did! Math is really the only subject I can´t handle, but thankfully she has a smart dad!

Around here we are getting ready to get the house on the market. This past summer we decided to sell the house and get something else together. It makes sense to start over somewhere else, but I will miss my garden terribly. I do look forward to the changes, it is always exciting to set up house …

Project Life 2015 | Week 2

Hello week 2! Again the spread took a little longer than it has before. I am sure the size is still confusing me! However, I do like the new format and can´t wait to have a full album to flip through.

This (above) is a shot of how the spread looks like when you open the album. I added an insert this week too. I hadn´t planned it, but then we had a big storm over the weekend and I just had to add the story and photos.

When you flip over the insert, you can see the second page of both. I added journaling with my white pen right on the photo for the shot of my new audiobook. I had to have a photo of my very first Studio Calico kit. I just subscribed this month! And my love gave me with the most beautiful bunch of tulips and I swear that photo was Instagrammed within the minute and printed/in this album within 10 :)

I also made a flip journaling card to hold a few words about the awful headaches I had this week. I simply added tape to hold to journaling cards together vertically.

Memory keeping | Thoughts on smaller sized pages

I wanted to quickly share my thoughts on changing the size of my scrapbooking layouts. I have been a 8.5x11” (A4) since the beginning of me scrapbooking in 2000. Since the size is a standard for page protectors, paper and binders here it was easiest for me. I have enjoyed it. It´s not because I don´t like it anymore, I just need a change I guess. This year I am doing all my pages in A5 or 5.8x8.3” for those of you using inches. I have a binder that holds tons of pages and I plan to use that to hold them. Perhaps I may add in an occasional pocket page in there also.

The smaller size is also a way to save. It doesn´t require 4x6” photos. That means I can print more smaller photos on one 10x15 cm photo card. It also doesn´t need to be so product heavy, which means I can save on supplies. But really all this is to challenge me and change things up a little.

Did you ever try a smaller sized layout? Do tell!

Re-Scrap 2015 | January inspiration pages

You may remember in January 2012 I announced a new project:
the idea: this is a project i have wanted to do for a long time. i sometime have troubles with design on my scrapbook pages. well, what troubles me is re-newing myself. i want to try new things, but i  don´t want to make pages that are not me. and i have done pages i really love, so i thought i´d make it a priority to choose 3 old layouts every month of the year and use them as inspiration for new pages. i mean, i am not re-scrapping the event or page, i am using the entire page and/or some elements of it to use as inspiration. i will share which 3 old layouts i am working with sometime the first week of the month. maybe you could draw some inspiration from them too?!
Now I want to start the project up again. It felt fantastic in December 2012 when I had 36 new pages! So here are the 3 older pages that are my inspiration for January.

I love the muted colors here and the overall design.

This is a design you can use forever.

Project Life 2015 | Week 1

Welcome to my first spread in the 2015 Project Life album! I was so excited to finally start with this as it is the start of me using a new size. I have done the same A4 size spreads for 3 years straight and now I felt it ws time for a change. I am using a Simple Stories Sn@p album 6x8" and a few different pocket pages.

Here is the spread with the insert in there. BAsically how it looks when you open up the album.

This is a view of when I had turned the insert. The insert holds stories and photos from our SPA weekend. The main pages holds stories and photos from the rest of the week.

To add more journaling space I made flip pockets on both the main pages and the insert.

I have used a variety of products in my stash, both newer and older.

On the second page you´ll  the two cards in the upper left corner and lower right with a New Years theme. Those are two of the ones I have in a free printable for you today! You can download it as a pdf here!

Here are a few examples of how I alt…

OLW 2015 | more/less

I didn´t choose a word of the year in 2014. In 2013 I had brave. I needed to be brave about so many things after the divorce and all and I felt comforted by reading brave quotes I found around the web.
For this year I chose more/less. It is technically two words, but you can´t have one without the other in this case. A few times the past year I have felt detached from the right now. Always one step ahead and with what felt like a million tasks going on at the same time. I had a stress-test made and I was in the danger-zone for stressrelated issues like heartproblems. This, clearly, made me stop and think.

I need to change many things, but I am going to focus on just a few at a time. One aspect is my weight. I have let myself go and I know I would feel better if I´d loose a few kilos. This means MORE walks - LESS time spend sitting down, mainly on the couch and infront of the computer. See how I used my OLW there?!
Stree also equals anxiety for me and that ofcourse is a big issue. S…

New year, new projects

I always have a plan for the new creative year. Sometimes it works out, sometime it doesn´t. This year I am excited to bring the Re-scrap project back. Read more about it here, but it is basically me challenging myself to make 3 layouts a month using my older pages as inspiration. I am looking forward to doing this again!

Yesterday I also started my 2015 PL album. I´, doing a post about it later, but oh my god how tricky and not at all easy to go from a size I´ve been working with for 3 years, to a much smaller size! As you might know I am trying out the 6x8 sized page protectors this year.
Then, I am also trying out many more smaller scrapbooking pages this year. I have mainly been working in A4 forever, but want to work more in the 6x8 size for this too. We´ll see if it´ll stick, otherwise I am just going to mix layout sizes in my album as I´ve done before.

I am not taking Ali´s One little word class, but inspired from when I did take it in 2011 I have chosen a word, or phrase, to help…

WCS | January gallery

Happy new year! I wish you all a year full of joy, creativity and health! Since our little announcement yesterday we have gotten so many congratulations and we want to thank you for that! The first part of 2015 will be spend planning the big day and I hope to share it with you. I will be back shortly with a post on that. But for now, I have a new WCS layout to share since it is the first of the month!

The January theme is decade. I used the fact that this year marks my 10th year teaching and made a page about that.

I am about to start my 10th year as a kindergarden teacher. It is crazy how time flies! When I started I never thought I´d be at the same work place for this long, but since the groups change and even my co-workers come and go I have stayed. My courage has gone up and down, but in the end I know that I love my job. I hope there will be atleast 10 more years!
Have a great day!
